EP, November 24 2017
Overmono will complete their Arla EP trilogy with the release of Arla III on 24 November 2017 via XL Recordings.
"Arla III, like the previous two records in the series, is a culmination of our combined influences. A representation of our memories - both real and false, of UK rave culture. These records have been informed as much by fantasy as they are real memories. The result of us piecing together our experiences of growing up and going out to raves in the Welsh countryside.
"It’s 5am, you’re in a field on the outskirts of Monmouth, surrounded by rolling hills and you’re not entirely sure if the sun is coming up or going down. It’s cracked, disconnected and completely rose tinted, because that’s how we remember these experiences.”
The past year has also seen Overmono firmly establish itself as one of the most exciting electronic acts to catch in either a live setting or as a DJ duo. Bringing to bear their collective experience & talents forged on the road as the solo acts Tessela and Truss, the Russell brothers have already won acclaim as standout performers at festivals including Unsound, Sonar, Dekmantel and Field Day, in addition to club dates across Europe.
On 25 November their Poly Kicks imprint will host its own night in London for the first time, with Overmono DJing all night long alongside a rare DJ appearance by Weirdcore, best known for his live AV work and the creator of the video for Arla III's 'Inulin':
"We chose our friend Weirdcore to make the video for Inulin. His style fits perfectly with our intention to create a sense of blurry nostalgia, while simultaneously mangling and distorting familiar tropes into something new and unknown."
Arla III will again come with artwork by Rachel Bungey, whose triptych of works for the series were designed to be combined as a singular piece.
